The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced a new visa requirement, mandating Nigerians to disclose all social media accounts they have used in the past five years.
In a statement posted on its official X page Monday morning (August 18, 2025), the U.S. Embassy said:
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used in the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form.”
It added that applicants must certify the accuracy of all information before submission, warning that failure to provide complete social media details could result in visa denial and render the applicant ineligible for future visas.
