- Receive Money: You can receive money from any Nigerian bank into your SmartCash wallet.
- Bills Payment: You can easily pay utility bills such as electricity or TV subscriptions from your phone. You also have the option to schedule payments for recurring bills.
- Cash Withdrawals: As long as you have money in your wallet, you can make quick and easy cash withdrawals SmartCash agents or ATMs.
- Airtime Purchase: You can easily top-up airtime from your account/wallet.
- Cardless Payments: You can scan and make payments with its QR code.

It uses PIN authentication and encryption technology to ensure privacy of data and security of transactions.
How do I open a SmartCash wallet?
You can open a SmartCash wallet by using the USSD on your phone or by downloading the SmartCash app – available on Playstore and App Store.
To open your wallet using USSD, follow these steps:
- Dial *939#
- Choose and confirm your 4-digit PIN
- Choose and provide the answer to a security question of your choosing from the options given
- The wallet will be created and a NUBAN account number issued.
To open your SC account/wallet using the app, download the SmartCash. Follow the prompts to create your wallet.
How do I fund my wallet?
- Use the bank app of the account you want to fund your wallet from
- Transfer from other Smartcash wallets to your own
- Locate and approach a SmartCash agent.

How do I make withdrawals from SmartCash?
- Dial *939#
- Choose ‘5’ for cash withdrawal
- Enter the desired withdrawal amount (There’s a cap of N20,000)
- Enter your PIN
- You should receive a text containing the paycode
- Approach an agent with the paycode and receive cash
How does Airtel SmartCash transfer work?
- Dial *939#
- Select ‘4’ for money transfer
- Select the option for the intended recipient i.e. 1 for SmartCash, 2 for banks, and 3 for phone numbers)
- Input recipient’s account number/phone number.
- Select bank
- Input amount and enter PIN to confirm

How do I buy airtime?
To buy airitime from your SmartCash account/wallet:
- Dial *939#
- Select ‘3’ to buy airtime
- Select ‘1’ for airtime top-up and ‘2’ for data
- Select recipient
- Input mobile number
- Select network
- Enter top-up amount
- Finally, enter PIN to confirm.
